Hardware or Classic Manicure: which is better?

30.07.2021

Finding out how a trim manicure differs from a hardware one.

Hardware and classic manicure differ from each other primarily in the way the cuticle is processed. For a long time, we gave preference to the classic manicure, but hardware manicure is gaining more and more popularity over the years. What are their fundamental differences, which manicure is better, and what are the pros and cons?

HARDWARE MANICURE

This type of manicure is performed without preliminary steaming of the skin. The main tool is a special machine for polishing the nail plate, changing the shape of the nail, and removing the cuticle. The device has been specially designed for this nozzle with different processing rigidity.

Pros:

  • The possibility of injuring the skin around the nail plate during the manicure process is minimal.
  • If you do hardware manicure regularly, the cuticle begins to grow back more slowly than with the classic one.
  • Hands do not need to be steamed in water first: the nails are therefore less dry and brittle.

Cons:

  • The nail drill does not always cope with coarse cuticles.
  • Hardware manicure is suitable for those who regularly visit the master in the salon.
  • You must have professional skills in working with the device.
  • The presence of the device itself: naturally, this device is much more expensive than manicure tweezers.

CLASSIC MANICURE

It was the classic manicure (or edging) that gave impetus to the development of manicure as a complex of cosmetic services. The main tool is nail tweezers. This is the most effective way of treating the cuticle, especially if you need «an ambulance» with your hands: when a manicure was not done at all or was done, but for a very long time.

Pros:

  • Such a manicure does not require professional intervention. You can do it yourself at home, armed with nail clippers.
  • Cuticle removal is quick and effective. Suitable for hardened skin around the nail plate.

Cons:

  • There is a serious risk of injury to the skin.
